Hoover Jazz Fest
On March 2, 2019, The Hoover Bands will host the 48th Annual Hoover JazzFest. This year 58 Central Iowa jazz bands will come to Hoover to compete, get professional comments, hear some great jazz, and get in one last shot to earn a spot at the Iowa Jazz Championships. The festival began in the 1970’s under the direction of Ron Battani to increase jazz opportunities for Central Iowa students as well as a fundraiser for band activities. In fact, of the dozen festivals now held around Iowa each year, Hoover’s is the third oldest and was the “test run” for another festival started by Mr. Battani, The Iowa Jazz Championships.
