Ferdinand Alobo has come a long way from his home country to Des Moines, Iowa. As many of our refugee students can attest, the road isn’t always smooth. This week, Ferdinand was profiled by Des Moines Register Metro Columnist Daniel Finney, and he took the opportunity to talk about how teachers made a difference in his life. Hoover students put on their school colors Tuesday and visited three Des Moines elementary schools in honor of Universal Children’s Day. The day was established by the United Nations in 1954 to promote international togetherness and improve children’s welfare.
