Class of 2020 Personal Commencements:

Celebrating Success One Graduate at a Time

WHEN: Saturday August 15th, 2020

WHO: Each Graduating Senior + 2 guests

WHEN: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (see specific times below)

  • 10:00 – 11:00 AM… Students from North, Hoover, Roosevelt, Options, and Place Academy
  • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM… Students from East, Lincoln, and Scavo

 

Arrival:

*Required* Please have masks on.

  1. The graduate and 1 or 2 guests will pull into the student parking lot.
  2. The graduate and the 1 or 2 guests will be greeted by a summer school staff member in the parking lot who will take their name. PLEASE DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR VEHICLE TO ENTER THE BUILDING UNTIL YOU ARE ASKED TO DO SO.

Waiting Areas:

  1. Waiting Area #1 — Outside: Graduate and guests will be greeted by staff and begin the check in process outside of North High School by the front steps.
  2. Waiting Area #2 — By the Polar Bear: Graduate and guests will receive a name card to spell the graduate’s name phonetically and cords of distinction, if applicable.
  3. Waiting Area #3 – By the auditorium: Graduate and guests will be ushered to the auditorium for the graduation experience.

Presentation of Diploma in Auditorium:

  1. The graduate and their guests will be ushered into the auditorium by a staff member.
  2. When the graduate and guests are prompted, they will move forward to the auditorium stage.
  3. The graduate will have a picture taken with their name card at the base of the auditorium stairs leading up to the stage.
  4. The graduate will go up the stairs to the stage and hand the name card to a staff member and the graduate’s name will be read while the student walks across the stage and receives their diploma cover.
  5. The graduate will have their formal picture taken with their diploma cover. Guests can also take pictures of the student on stage at a safe distance that will not interfere with the DMPS photographer.

Exiting the Building

  1. The graduate and guests will exit the south side of the Auditorium (the back near the band room).
  2. The graduate will receive a packet containing their diploma and any awards.
  3. The graduate and the guests will proceed back to the student parking lot to their vehicle.

All computers and hotspots must be returned to your appropriate school to receive the packet that has your diploma.
