Students Attend Youth Symposium

Hoover students Brigid Toothman, Jaythan Brooks, Nyokota Ding, Nick Lockin, Gloriose Habonimana and Seherzada Salkanovic represented Hoover at the Youth Symposium held at the Science Center of Iowa on Tuesday, March 29th. The RACE: Youth Symposium experience, sponsored by Bankers Trust, is a gathering of students, 6 from each school,  from surrounding suburban, rural, and urban school districts from Central Iowa focused on self—reflection and increasing knowledge in the role and impact of diversity in our community and building a community of action.  The participants experienced the RACE: Are We So Different? exhibit, reflection and dialogue with peers about issues of equity and access in our communities that youth experience, as well as discussed how they can support change in addressing these issues.
