Hour Of Code

Nearly 1,000 students from Moore Elementary, Meredith Middle School and Hoover High School tested their computer coding abilities during the Global Hour of Code event.  Last week, students took time to learn the basics of coding using the code.org website.  The online activities allowed students to practice their skills of thinking logically, collaboration and inquiry into the “how’s and why’s” of coding.  Altogether, students coded for just over 20,000 minutes and wrote nearly 44,000 lines of code!  Through the one-week experience, students and staff were also exposed to careers that rely on coding through guest speakers and other classroom experiences.
