Sisters for Success Legislative Day on Capitol Hill

On Tuesday, May 5th, eleven young ladies, members of the Sisters for Success group at Hoover, were invited to take part in a “Day on the Hill” at the Iowa State Capitol. House of Representative Ruth Ann Gaines and House of Representative Ako Abdul-Samad hosted the legislative day for the members and leaders of the “Sisters for Success” organization.  They had the opportunity to speak with the members of Sisters for Success about the history at the statehouse, the legislative process, their concerns as students and young women, as well as the progress of the group. Students also had a chance to speak with public officials and share their input on issues affecting public education.  Presidential candidate Ben Carson took time out of his busy schedule to greet and speak with member of Sisters for Success. Members that attended are Tatyana Rushing, Destiny Jackson, Dina Ntirampeba, Journee Perry-Harris, Queen Dennis, Latifa Muhammad, Dejah Galbreath, Najah Spencer, Oddessy Freeman, Lamona Dunigan, Tatanea Mahaney, and their advisor, Patricia Dunbar.
