Putting the “I” in IB…

The Hoover Band is hosting a group of ten musicians from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico for ten days, March 25-April 5.  These are just a few of the musicians we performed with on our tour to Merida one year ago.  Their ages are 16-27 and they all perform with a state-sponsored band, the Banda Sinfonica Juvenil de Yucatan, part of Yucatan’s cultural arts program that encourages experience with all of the arts.  The group is equivalent to one of our finer university bands, so they are very accomplished and are here to teach.  For example, the first clarinetist has a degree from the music conservatory in Milan, Italy and the director studied at the Vienna Conservatory.   Three of these were here for one day last November.
