Enrollment in college-level Advanced Placement courses has skyrocketed at Des Moines Public Schools as more and more AP classes are being offered at all DMPS high schools than ever before. An important component of AP courses is the AP exam, which can lead to credit at many colleges and universities. The deadline to register for the 2016 AP exams is March 28. Last night, the Hoover High gym was filled with excitement as the Hoover boy’s basketball team went up against their north side rival, the NHS Polar Bears. With less than two minutes on the clock, the Huskies rallied for a 63-61 win. Go Huskies!

With three weeks until Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses, U.S. Senator and Presidential contender Bernie Sanders stopped at Hoover High School for a Q&A with students. From candidate visits to serving as caucus sites to writing caucus-based curriculums, Iowa’s presidential contest provides students and staff at DMPS with a number of ways to be involved.
