Guest Composer Works with Band
Dr. Peter Meechan, British composer now living in Canada, spent five days in residence with the Hoover HS Band on Dec. 4-10. He worked with the students on his composition Letters for Home, written in honor of the 100th anniversary of the beginning of WWI. The students studied the conditions of the war, how soldiers may have felt and the types of letters they might have written home to loved ones. They also composed music related to these feelings. This is Dr. Meechan’s third residency with the band, supported by funds from the Hoover Band Boosters.
