Newspaper and Yearbook students attended a Lunch ‘n’ Learn at Drake University Wednesday, November 11th. Students had the opportunity to learn about video editing, creating apps and flying drones plus tour the campus. Monday, November 9th, Mr. Nydle’s AP Government class attended the 3rd Congressional District’s Youth Leadership Summit at the Iowa Capitol. They attended workshops to build leadership skills and collaborated with specialists in higher education, along with Congressman David Young and his staff.
The science, technology and mathematics education opportunities at Hoover High School continue to grow. The school is now a recipient of the STEM BEST grant from the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council. The support will enable Hoover to further expand educational opportunities offered by their unique STEM Academy. On Friday, October 30th, Latino students from Hoover HS were invited to Simpson College, where they were welcomed by the Admission office to talk about the requirements necessary for acceptance into Simpson College.
